Official Cowparade Copenhagen – Officielt Cowparade København

The Cows are Coming!

From June 2nd till August 31st 2007 the worldwide charitable art event CowParade can be experienced around Copenhagen. Danish artists, in favour of the Danish children’s charity “Red Barnet”, will decorate more than 50 sculptures of real life size cows.

During the past 10 years the inhabitants of more than 40 cities around the world have had the opportunity to experience colourful, creative and fun cows in the streets and squares of their towns and cities. Now “cow mania” is about to reach Denmark this summer.

CowParade Copenhagen will occupy popular landmarks around the capital, at such places as Rådhuspladsen, Nyhavn and Sankt Hans Torv.

CowParade will be one of the biggest popular art events in the public space ever done in Denmark. Known and unknown Danish artists will decorate the cow sculptures, and only their imagination and creativity will limit the appearance of these life-size cows.

- It’s a fun and good initiative, and we are happy that the profit will be donated to “Red Barnet”. CowParade will make many children happy both in Denmark and in the rest of the world. Those children who will experience the cows in the streets and the exposed children who, by the profit, will receive help from “Red Barnet”, says Mimi Jakobsen, general secretary of the charity.

CowParade has already been on tour in cities like New York, Sydney, Paris, London, Stockholm, and everywhere CowParade has been exhibited; the numbers of visitors and tourism in general has increased dramatically.

Several million people have seen CowParade worldwide and the same great attendance is expected in Copenhagen. That is why the Mayor of Technology & Environment Klaus Bondam expresses his great enthusiasm about the world-famous art event is coming to Copenhagen.

- The local authorities of Copenhagen are glad that the CowParade is coming to our city; bringing world class art and humour. At the same time it is an opportunity for a number of Danish artists to decorate a piece of the city for a period. I hope that the people of Copenhagen will get a lot of pleasure out of the cows.

CowParade Copenhagen will take place from June 2nd till August 31st 2007 and the auction will take place at the end of September.
